System Requirements

System Requirements of the VOIS Servers

Minimum Requirements:

Operating System

  • Microsoft Server 2012 or higher
  • Linux (on request)

Special Features

The application server is based on Java and is therefore platform-independent. A dedicated JavaVM is delivered and installed during the VOIS installation. All functionalities of the server are developed in a service-oriented manner, so that this can be optimally adapted to customer requirements. OSGi is used as a basic framework. The server contains technologies of a JEE server.

The application server is technologically structured in such a way that it can be operated with little maintenance. This also includes the possibility of automatic updating when new software versions are provided by the software manufacturer.

Hardware

The VOIS platform is so modular in its technology that it is irrelevant whether you are running VOIS in a large data center or in your home office. The hardware requirements are almost exclusively based on the expected number of users and the records managed by them.

The application server is recommended based on 150,000 inhabitants and 30 users.

Virtual application server with:

  • 4 logical processors
  • 8 GB virtual memory
  • 100 GB hard disk space in the SAN (central)

We recommend the use of two virtual application servers (for more than 20 users) ). You should use a server for the back-office area and a server for the front office area. If several application servers are used for the front office area, the load distribution is the responsibility of the system administrator.

If our recommendations on the application server cannot be implemented without problems, we will assist in finding a solution. Please contact us.

System Requirements of the VOIS Client

Minimum Requirements:

VOIS Client as HTML-based Software

The VOIS client is an autonomous browser developed on the basis of Firefox technology. The Communication with the VOIS server takes place via http (s) and is restricted by a Whitelist Program interface is displayed within a client window and serves as input to the user and execution of administrative and administrative procedures. In addition, it allows the use of locally installed hardware to perform management tasks (e.g., fingerprint scanners, Change terminal, card readers, signature tablets, scanners, etc.)

The VOIS client requires the address and the port of the VOIS server to work minimally, with which the client is to join.

The VOIS client can be loaded without local administrator rights. During installation, an executable file is loaded from the VOIS server. Automatic updates ensure that the VOIS client is always up-to-date.

Browser-independent Administration

The administration, configuration and task management of the VOIS server can be performed via any browser. Administrative tasks can also be performed on other platforms.

Operating System

macOS
Only 64bit binaries are provided for macOS, and the minimum macOS version supported is macOS 10.9.

Windows
Windows 7 and later are supported, older operating systems are not supported (and do not work).

Both ia32 (x86) and x64 (amd64) binaries are provided for Windows. Please note, the ARM version of Windows
is not supported for now.

Linux
The prebuilt ia32 (i686) and x64 (amd64) binaries are built on Ubuntu 12.04, the armbinary is built against ARM v7 with hard-float ABI and NEON for Debian Wheezy.

Only Ubuntu 12.04 is guaranteed to work, but following platforms are also verified to be able to run the prebuilt binaries:

  • Ubuntu 12.04 and later
  • Fedora 21
  • Debian 8

Minimum Specification

Hardware and software requirements may vary depending on the machine and operating system.

The minimum hardware specifications to install and effectively operate are:

  • Dual-core x86 CPU running at 2GHz
  • 4GB RAM (physical)
  • A block-based storage device (hard disk, SSD, EBS, iSCSI)

Network file systems such as CIFS and NFS are not supported.

Important: You can reduce the CPU and RAM resources below the above-specified minimum for development and testing purposes. The specification can be as low as 1GB of free RAM beyond operating system requirements and a single CPU core. However, you must use at least the required minimum specification for production.

Recommended Specifications

The recommended hardware specifications to install and effectively operate include:

  • Four core 64-bit x86 CPU running at 3GHz; six cores when using Cross Datacenter Replication (XDCR) and Views
  • 16GB RAM (physical)
  • A local block-based storage device (hard disk, SSD). Network filesystems such as CIFS and NFS are not supported

Printers

The HSH supports all printers that are not older than 2 to 3 years for VOIS introduction. Please note that these printers must be installed with the original operating system. In the case of inkjet printers, the requirements of the Bundesdruckerei must also be observed.
